I had THE BEST time taking Laura and Nathaniel’s engagement photos. You know when people talk about dream clients? Well, that was me during this session. They trusted me completely, letting me set the time and location, and they were up for any crazy thing I asked them to do. Sometimes what we tried worked, sometimes it didn’t, but we laughed through it all. We met at the base of Payson Canyon and headed up together in my car, pulling over when we found a beautiful vista…and let me tell you, we found a few. It was storming that evening, so light was hard to find and there were more than a few raindrops, but Nathaniel and Laura were up for it all and we enjoyed our little adventure. We’re waiting for Laura’s dress to be done, and I can’t wait until we get to do their bridals before their October 6th wedding!

LAURISSA & NIK | LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON ALBION BASIN ENGAGEMENTS | UTAH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER9/14/2017 I was going back through old sessions and couldn’t believe I hadn’t blogged this gorgeous engagement session with Laurissa and Nik from TWO summers ago! Laurissa wanted mountains, and green, and flowers, and Albion Basin, up Little Cottonwood Canyon, fit the bill perfectly! It was brimming with flowers and we caught it just right at golden hour as the sun was getting close to setting. It was so easy to photograph Laurissa and Nik because they were so comfortable with one another. I love photographing LOVE, and they made my job easy! They dipped and danced, cuddled and snuggled to their (and my) hearts’ content. The session flew by and we came away with some great photos that they later displayed at their reception (blog post to come!)
This engagement session was special to me, because the bride-to-be is my sister! As soon as Julia and Ammon were engaged, she asked if I would take their engagement photos, and I was so excited and happy. However, the wedding was in March, which meant we had a lot of snow to work with during this shoot. Julia and Ammon are so laid back, they just went with the flow, and we ended up shooting on a cold winter morning, near Cedar Fort.
Dani and Tyler were married on May 6, 2017 at the Draper Utah LDS Temple, with a reception that evening in Pleasant Grove. Dani's the younger sister of one of my good friends, and so I was honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding day. It was a beautiful, bright, warm afternoon when they exited as husband and wife, and we had a great time capturing memories for them! It was the first time I had met Tyler, but I could see right away what a great fit they were - metaphorically speaking. They are, after all, nearly a foot apart in height haha. Of dating Tyler, Dani said, "I loved how bold he was and found out quickly that he was absolutely hilarious! He also is the most gentleman-like person I have ever met!" Congrats on your wedding, guys!
Stephanie and Nick were married this last Saturday, June 10, 2017. I don't know if I've ever seen a groom as giddy as Nick was about marrying his true love. They were such a fun, laid-back couple, and we had a blast exploring the temple grounds and taking bridals after the big group shots. Before the wedding day, Stephanie told me about how they met - "We met through Nick's cousin (who I lived with for a few weeks). We'd all visit and got along super well. Nick chased me one day out the back door ... and that's when I kinda new there was more interest. We later into our friendship discovered that we shared many big life experiences. Missions, previous marriages, and childhoods playing in the woods. So much just fit together everything's been so natural." Nick proposed to her on top of Angel's Landing at Zion's National Park!
I first heard from Kyle and Kenedy a week before their wedding! They had decided they wanted photos of the big day, and I was so happy to help them out. We planned to quickly do photos of the exit and the big group of friends and family who had come out to support them, and then take some time for bridals, so they would have photos of the day to treasure forever. It was a bit windy and chilly at the temple (it seems like it always is at the Oquirrh Mountain LDS Temple), but everyone’s smiles were warm and happy. Kyle and Kenedy were obviously and deliriously in love, and I was so glad they scheduled that extra time with me so we could capture it adequately.
